Chapter two · The trouble with AI
Then AI arrived, and it sounded certain.
A general AI hands you an answer and keeps its working to itself. You're left with questions it never answers:
- Is that case real, or invented?
- Is the citation exact, or one digit off?
- Did it go looking for the authority against you?
- Which courts did it weigh first, and which did it never open?
- What years did it search?
The lawyer is out of control. The AI is left in the dark.
In July 2026, the Supreme Court of India held that citing unverified AI-generated precedents is professional misconduct.
A fabricated source or a mistyped citation is no longer an embarrassing slip. It's a professional risk, and it lands on the lawyer whose name is on the filing, never on the tool.
So we built it the other way round. Before LegalGita searches, it shows you its plan. You edit it, and then it begins.

Then every line it writes opens the passage it came from, checked against the court's own record, so you can verify it in one click.
